The unintended expat blogger behind Grove Paper Trail

Hello, I am Olivia
I work as a project manager. A parent. An expat based in Springfield, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Relocating to United States wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
The initial months were demanding — learning new systems, adjusting to new routines, and facing new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and a great deal of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began to build something that felt solid.
Why I Built Grove Paper Trail
Most online resources were either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourist material. What was missing was a candid, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that void — practical guidance drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical experience gained from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored-review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United States goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue to document what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Springfield or anywhere in United States, please feel free to get in touch.
Cheers,
Olivia
